Last introduction in our new series – “Five Minute Friday” – is Mark Carpenter. His focus is the Accounting & Finance industry where his ultimate goal is developing a win-win scenario for both the candidate and client. His success comes with his ability to build long-lasting relationships and continuing to help clients grow and advance into the future.
What is your approach to being an executive search consultant?
My approach is not only understanding what my clients are looking for but also dive deeper and discover what they need to be successful.
How do you know when you’ve made a good match between candidate and client?
I know that I’ve made a good match between candidate and client when I receive feedback from both parties that there is a sense of excitement about the future.
What makes the Accounting & Finance sector unique?
Every company requires financial oversight. In the past Finance and Accounting were viewed as a back-office operation only. However, in today’s world of finance, it is viewed as a value add to business decisions, not just closing the books.
How have the challenges of 2020 changed the way you approach recruiting?
Now in 2020, there is much more strategy in that my clients are seeking candidates that are more innovative and able to blend finance, systems and process Improvement skills while effect the bottom line in a proactive way.
Fun fact about you?
From an early age I was in the Sport fishing Charter Boat business starting off as a mate and passing my captains exam in 1983. I enjoyed the challenge each day to catch the limit of my customers or the trophy. I was good at it. In recruiting, I find the same excitement. Every day is new challenge.
