All through the effort Chris was always available, responsive to our needs, and with the appropriate level of drive/push. I highly recommend Chris for your next search engagement."

Tips for Polishing You Executive Resume
Your executive-level resume needs to showcase how you fit within the top tier of your business, not that you can undertake rudimentary tactical responsibilities. Here are some things to think about in order to help polish your resume to help standout:
Highlight your leadership experience
Working as part of a team is great, but can you lead a team? Highlight your experience as a leader and show that you know how to delegate responsibilities, manage people and achieve results. Can you coach team members to be their best? If you’ve worked across business verticals, highlight those working parallels.
Strategy Over Tactics
Entry-level jobs tend to be all about the execution of job responsibilities and the progression from entry-level to management is the capability to start thinking and acting more strategically with a long-term vision. Can you think ahead and foresee problems and then problem solve in order to prevent or resolve? How are you continuously helping the company move into the future?
Continuous growth is important for any career to progress. Employers value people who value themselves. If you’ve taken professional development, leadership courses or executive leadership training programs, be sure to include it on your resume.
Standing out is good as long as it’s for the right reasons. Updating an outdated resume to ensure that it highlights the traits that you want to sell and appeals to hiring managers in crucial to landing your next management position.

Executive search partners are the eyes and ears within the industry and in the marketplace. They understand the needs that companies face because they work in the industry day in and day out. They understand the employment marketplace as a whole and intimately know the industry in which they serve. Not only do they know what companies are doing, but they know what top talent is doing. This is all information that companies wish they had and by leveraging a partnership with an executive search partner, this information is at the tip of their fingertips. Here are few signs that a partner is worth exploring:
- Industry Events – Sure, reading articles and blogs can keep people in the know about the industry, but attending industry events such as tradeshows is a sign that they take the time to truly dive into the industry.
- Proven Success – Ask what their success rate is in placing candidates in positions. A good executive search partner will have proven success over the years, in the industry to back up their methodology.
- Grit – A good executive search partner does what needs to be done to understand the industry, their clients and the competition. Chris Hillman of SearchPath of Chicago, Inc. makes an average of 12,000 phone calls. He uses these opportunities to investigate the competition, knowledge of products sold to the same customer base, industry trends, candidate reputation, and much more.
Chris will be attending SupplySide West show in Las Vegas, October 15th-19th. He’ll be available to discuss the needs of your company and how he can help identify, locate, and recruit the talent that you need to continue to grow your team and business. He still has some availability on his calendar during the show – don’t miss the opportunity!
